Dedicated to a beautiful and historic Newburyport
Advocacy & Fundraising
Presently, the state issues money in a fiscal year to each municipality for the purpose of sidewalk construction. Unfortunately, it is a paltry amount and grossly insufficient for a city the size of Newburyport. The City has bonded a certain amount so some decent maintenance can be done on the pedestrian surfaces.

Some fundraising has been done to assist the city's all-volunteer Tree Committee. The hiring of a full-time Arborist has been a tremendous benefit. It may be disturbing that so many trees have been removed along the streets; but it is necessary. The objective is to remove the shallow-rooted trees and systematically replace them all over the city but mostly in the North and South End.
